Memorandum of Understanding

We the signatories agree to form a Group, Known as the Automotive Choice of Repairer Group, to work on the Goal to develop new legislation in the similar lines to the Australian Motor Service and Repair Information sharing scheme for New Zealand.

That amends the NZ legislation to establish a scheme that mandates that service and repair information provided to NZ car dealerships and manufacturers preferred repairs be made an available for independent repairers and registered training organisations to purchase at a fair market price and that the copyright laws to amended to provide that the statutory licensing scheme for educational institutions does not apply to that information.

The objects of the Group. 

To promote competition between New Zealand repairers of passenger and light goods vehicles and establish a fair playing by mandating access on fair and reasonable terms to information used to diagnose, repair, service, modify or dismantle scheme vehicles.

The group shall organise solutions and road map with relevant NZ authorities and government to achieve these goals.

The Group membership can be any association involved in the Motor Vehicle Passenger or light vehicle Repairer industry, and companies involved in importing and distributing parts to the industry.

The group shall be administered by a committee selected by the signatories to this document to achieve these goals.

The initial committee shall be representatives from; Repco NZ , VIA , AANZ , Yes Group , NZEA , Automotive solutions .
